Villa Kalisat is situated behind a Balinese traditional village, 80 metres above the hillside of Petanu River Gorge, 50 metres walk through traditional family village and temple. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Located only 12 minutes drive to central Ubud, this boutique villa offers 2 outdoor pools, a private spa and a private path down to the Petanu River.

The seven suites at Villa Kalisat are designed to maximise the property's picturesque views of the rainforest, the river valley and the pools. The rooms are tastefully furnished with traditional and modern Balinese designs. Each air-conditioned room comes with a four-poster bed, mosquito nets, a minibar and an electric kettle. Each room comes with an en suite bathroom with rain shower.

Surrounded by rainforest and wildlife, Villa Kalisat is 12 minutes’ drive from Ubud Palace and Ubud Monkey Forest. It takes 90 minutes’ drive from Denpasar Airport to the property.

Guests can indulge in relaxing massages, as Kalisat Spa has an extensive list of spa treatments. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including cycling, hiking and rice field walks. The property offers free parking.

The Superior double room has two King size beds, sleeping 4 people. The Family room has one Kingsize bed and two King size single beds, sleeping 4 people, but especially suited for parents and two children wanting seperate beds.

A relaxing stay in a unique property. Great service and food. A visit from the monkeys was an added bonus.

What would you highlight about Villa Kalisat
Our best stay in Bali
The whole experience of staying at Villa Kalisat was wonderful! The Monkey Room is amazing. Big, beautifully furnished, with an astonishing view of the valley and river below. The whole side of the room is made of windows from ceiling to floor. You wake up to see monkeys jumping on trees on the other side of the valley. All the time you can hear the sound of a waterfall that is located just beneath the terraces of Villa Kalisat, of roosters and wildlife. Two pools with the same view. One thing we found really great were incense sticks used outside the rooms, that gave a beautifiul, but not too strong smell. Nice smelling cosmetics in the bathroom. Food is served on the terrace. The breakfasts are really great and beautifully served. We didn't eat lunch or dinner there but it looked great as well. The most amazing thing about the Villa though are the staff and managers- really concentrated on the guests, doing everything to make the experience of visiting Ubud a perfect one- answering questions, suggesting places to visit, shops and restaurants to try. It's been a pleasure talking to them. A whole family of more than 15 people are living within the compound located next to the Villa, where many of them work so you feel that your stay is also supporting their income. If you need asistance with getting to Ubud drivers are on standby, always happy to take you. The waterfall beneath the hotel is also great- just 10 minutes walk down to the valley- best not to go in flip-flops as the steps are slippery. You can swim next to the waterfall. A small temple is beside it. We had a really amazing experience in Villa Kalisat and will definitely come back again.

Exceptional
Located just a few minutes by car from Ubud, on a cliff with a magnificent jungle and river view, Villa Kalisat is even better than what you can see from the pictures. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff goes above and beyond to meet guests’ needs and the owner gave us many different tips and insights. The breakfast is exceptional and we also got a wonderful massage (best we ever got so far) on beds with a private view over the river. We would have loved to stay more… you cannot really be dissatisfied with this experience

What would you highlight about Villa Kalisat
Authentic stay with genuine helpful service & amazing views
Amazing- the care from staff to ensure you enjoyed your stay was exceptional. This is not done in a 'slick service' kind of way but a genuine 'what are you wanting to see and how can we help you to do it'. The villa is in a family temple and staffed by family members of the village. You walk through a family temple with nan, uncle, kids, chickens and dogs before reaching the villa which is set upon the edge of a stunning jungle gorge. It only has 7 rooms and they focus upon individual care. The food was amazing, views stunning and it felt very authentic. Rooms looked like the photos. They gave great advice about where to go and gave help to book and get there. They can book cooking schools, drivers, etc. They had already negotiated with drivers about fair prices for different trips which makes this so much easier (ie. 400,000 [$40AUD] to the airport). It was away for the busy bustle of Ubud and was in a little temple filled village. The villa also has a genuine focus on helping the whole village to prosper.
I loved that it was out of town but this does mean a 10min $7AUD fare and the road gets jammed when you get close to Ubud (they have a free shuttle at 10am)- if you are good on a scooter it might be a good idea. There are LOTS of stairs because it is on the face of a gorge and Bali stairs are not regular size for each step so choose a room with this in mind- the Mandarin, Oriental and Monkey Throne room have the least amount of stairs. There are gaps around the doors but there are mosquito nets and spray. FYI- There are no TVs (which I kind of liked)
